The laboratory carries out high quality research and development works in the area of fire technology to provide solutions of design and construction problems in large buildings. It is equipped with systems to demonstrate the design and operational principle of active and passive protection systems such as the sprinkler system, the smoke pressurization systems for atrium and stairwell.
The research conducted in this laboratory includes developing nanoparticles and nanofillers specially designed for nanocoatings and nanocomposites building materials for advanced building applications. The lab is well-equipped with microencapsulator, chemical reactors, shakers, centrifuge, Ultraviolet (UV) & Infrared (IR) lamps, Ultraviolet–visible (UV-VIS) spectrometer, thermal conductivity apparatus, etc. Besides Nanotechnology, the laboratory also supports petrography studies and equipment for evaluating the performance of paints.
